Shoulder

What most people call the shoulder is really several joints that combine with tendons and muscles to allow the arm to perform a wide range of motions, from scratching your back to throwing the perfect pitch. As an extremely mobile joint that plays a central role in the action of a major extremity, the shoulder is at risk for injury. Frequent problems include sprains, strains, dislocations, tendonitis, bursitis, torn rotator cuffs, fractures, and arthritis.

The following links from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and selected topics from the Hand and Wrist Sections, developed in partnership with the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, will take you to descriptions of some of the conditions and treatments we specialize in at San Francisco Shoulder, Elbow & Hand Clinic and what you can expect during the process.
